Canada Offers Mortgage Insurance, Should You Go For It?

Posted by admin at Feb 09, 2010 | No Comments »

The Canadian housing finance system has made it possible for you to buy a property in Canada even if you are not able to save enough for the money down. You are able to get a mortgage with a 5% down payment on your property, but will be able to get a 20% interest rate. What makes this possible? It is possible to get such a great deal because they require the purchase of mortgage insurance for the amount borrowed. Risk of the loan defaulting is reduced for the broker and the buyer is able to buy a home without making the entire down payment.

Are There Requirements?

To get loan insurance, there are requirements to qualify, so some purchasers will not be able to get it. To qualify, the residence, of course, must be in Canada. Furthermore, at least 5% on single-family and two-unit residences and 10% on three- or four-unit dwellings must be paid up front.

Getting The Lowest Subscription Cost On The Newspaper.

Posted by admin at Jan 21, 2010 | No Comments »

I haven’t gotten the newspaper delivered to my house in years. Every once in a while I would pick up a Sunday paper back when I lived in Los Angeles, but ever since I moved to New Mexico and now to Colorado I haven’t been buying or reading the local papers…until this past week. For my own “green” reasons I don’t buy the paper Monday – Friday, but now that I have limited my internet time on weekends I have decided to subscribe to the paper on Saturday and Sunday only. Having the physical paper in my house on the weekends makes me take the time to enjoy the coffee and do some reading rather than just jumping right on the computer like I do every other morning. However, as I discovered, reading the paper can cost you either street price OR a heavily-discounted price, depending on how/where you get it from. Which one do

It’s Not What You Earn, It’s What You Spend.

The first 30 years of my life I was convinced it was the other way around. I believed that in order to be successful you had to make a lot of money, at any price, even if it meant that you hated what you did for a living. After all, what was more important than making a lot of money? However, that all changed a few years back when I all of a sudden realized that money wasn’t all that important to me. All I really needed, I decided, was enough to live comfortably – no more, no less. I looked back with disdain at all those years I spent working at jobs I didn’t even care for just for the paycheck. It was then that I decided to work for me and what I need rather than A. what others thought I needed or B. what my younger self had been telling me that I needed.

And then I took a big pay cut to strike out on my own…and nothing bad happened.

See, I had already started to adjust for making less money and had changed how I spent the money I did have. It wasn
